How To Speed Up Your Blog | Website, Best 5 Ways

Loading time is very important factor in blogging, Because fast loading websites get rank high. Many times we ignore website just because they takes more time. So today I will tell you best 5 ways for speed up website. Apply these tricks and make it fast.

1. Optimize Images

Always use image feature that is “Save for the web”. Images represent the heavier load on virtually any website so make sure you are optimizing them. You can also use online image optimizer.
2. Image Formats
Always use right format for images. JPEG format is suitable for photographs or true-color images. PNG works very similar to GIF but it supports more colors. You can use GIF for logos.

3. Use Slash in Links

Always use "/ " at the end of the link. If you include a slash (/) at the end of the link the server will already know that this is a directory page, reducing the load time of the site.

4. Optimize CSS of Website

Most websites are designed with CSS nowadays. Make sure to aggregate and clean your CSS. CleanCSS is an online tool that will merge similar selectors, remove useless properties and remove the whitespace from your code.

5. Use the Height and Width Tags

Many people ignores Height and Width tags. These tags are very important, because they will make sure that the browser knows the size of the image before loading it. The result is that it will reserve a spot for the images while loading the rest of the page, speeding up the whole process.

Internet Security

Internet Security

  • The first line of defense for any home computer setup is a good Internet firewall. A firewall allows a normal flow of data to and from your computer but blocks attacks from outside, essentially hiding your PC behind a shield. Microsoft’s Windows 7 includes a software firewall that, when enabled, effectively blocks unauthorized outside access.
Other products include Kaspersky Lab’s Kaspersky ONE Universal Security. This software blocks spam email and viruses along with providing firewall protection. The software includes protection for PCs, Macintosh computers, Android, iOS and other mobile devices in one comprehensive package. The editors at TechRadar rate Kaspersky ONE 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite by Check Point Software Technologies contains a firewall, virus scanner and spyware blocker. The ZoneAlarm scanner employs Kaspersky Lab’s proven virus detection technology. In addition, Check Point Software Technologies offers a firewall-only version of ZoneAlarm as a free download. IT Reviews praised ZoneAlarm’s simple, easy-to-use layout and strong protection against malware.

Malware Protection

  • Malware programs spy on your computer activities, damage your files or hijack your PC to spread email and Web spam. Attackers spread malware through enticing Web pages, email attachments and by other insidious means. Malware goes by various names that describe a specialty: spyware, viruses, adware and rootkits. A rootkit, for example, hides itself by becoming part of Windows, making detection and removal difficult. An entire software industry has grown up in response to the malware threat. Two examples of anti-malware software are Kaspersky ONE and Symantec’s Norton 360; these packages contain several programs that address multiple malware problems at the same time. They detect computer viruses in email attachments and file downloads and scan for malware already residing on your computer, giving you options for removing the malicious files. In addition to these features and others, Norton 360 automatically backs up your recent data, performing a frequently neglected, yet essential task.

Encryption

  • Protecting confidential files such as medical records and family finances demands a high priority level. Encryption prevents anyone from seeing this information without the correct password. The process of encrypting data mathematically scrambles it, turning it into meaningless random bits. To read the information, you type a password into a program to decrypt the data to its original form. Windows 7 has built-in encryption capability that allows you to protect individual files and folders on your hard drive, USB drives and other media.
Another software solution, TrueCrypt, from the TrueCrypt Developers Association, creates an encrypted virtual disk onto which you can store files. TrueCrypt is a free, open-source program that offers industrial-strength encryption methods. You choose from AES, Twofish and Serpent algorithms, either alone or in combination, yielding extremely strong security.
Using, PKWARE’s PKZIP, a popular data-archiving program, you compress several files into one, saving hard drive space and facilitating file transfers. The program has a data-encryption feature using industry-standard AES and 3DES methods; you can select either. PKZIP’s encryption provides a basic level of security suitable for everyday use.

Parental Controls

  • Although people in some countries experience a nationally controlled, sanitized Internet, Americans still enjoy relatively unrestricted freedom of expression on the Web. Some of the information available is not suitable for children, and you may wish to protect your minor children from the worst the Internet has to offer. To that end, Microsoft’s Windows 7 software includes several parental-control features. Through the Internet Explorer Web browser, you can turn on a Content Advisor that acts as a filter for Web content. A Windows Control Panel resource, User Accounts and Family Safety, lets you regulate the time your child spends on the computer.
For more sophisticated and comprehensive parental controls, consider Keyware Incorporated’s Action Alert. This software blocks websites, automatically filters Web searches, monitors email and records the computer’s video and keyboard activities. If the program detects objectionable content coming through emails or websites, you can opt to receive alerts via cell phone text messages. Action Alert comes in free and full-featured editions; you can purchase the latter version for a modest one-time fee.

Everyday Practices

  • As your data is precious, yet easily lost due to accidents, hardware problems and malware, backups are one of the best daily disciplines you can put into practice. Microsoft Windows includes backup software that copies your documents to a USB drive, second hard drive or recordable DVD on an automatic or manual basis, depending on if you connect the media permanently or if you plug it in occasionally. Web services such as Carbonite back up your files through the Internet, placing your data in secure offsite storage.
Exercise healthy skepticism when reading your email, even when messages come from known sources. For example, if you see a message from FedEx about a shipment when you are not expecting a package, do not click on the attachment. Be hesitant to open any email attachments unless you have complete confidence in the sender. Likewise, refrain from clicking on Web links embedded in these messages, as they can lead to virus-infected Web pages.
When creating passwords, make them as long and complex as possible. A shortcut for this is to make the password from a phrase, such as “tacosalad” or “FiveforaDollar.” Stay away from easily guessed passwords such as “12345.” Malicious hackers keep extensive dictionaries of frequently used passwords and can crack them in seconds.

How To Make Blog Post Automatically Appear On Facebook and Twitter

Apart from organic traffic from search engine optimization, you can also be getting free traffic from social networking sites. There are loads of them out there but personally, as at the time of publishing this, I devote more time to Facebook and Twitter.

There are many tricks on how to use Facebook and Twitter in driving traffic to your blog but today, am just sharing one of the tricks. If your blog posts automatically get posted to Facebook and Twitter, you will be getting some hits to your blog, though how much traffic you get from those sites depend on some factors e.g number of friends/fans/followers you have and the number of those friends/fans/followers that are really interested in your blog updates. Will discuss more about this in my future updates.

So, How Do I Get Started?

I use two tools for now: Twitterfeed and Networkedblogs app

Twitterfeed

Once you register at www.twitterfeed.com and add your blog url/feed, you can connect your account to your Facebook profileFacebook pagesand Twitter account. Once authorized and connected, whenever you update your blog with a new post, the title of the blog post, with a link to the full article will be sent across automatically to Twitter and also to Facebook.

More so, you can set up a prefix or suffix e.g "New Post:", "please ReTweet" to be automatically added to the posts sent to Facebook and Twitter. Right at Twitterfeed.com, you’ll see statistics for each post, showing you just how many people clicked on them.

How To Use TwitterFeed

Go straight to Twitterfeed.com and sign up for your free account. Once you sign up, log in and click on the "Add New Feed" button.

Enter your blog name and the blog url in the respective boxes and continue to the next steps where you will have to add your Facebook and Twitter accounts. From the Advanced settings page, you can add thepost prefixpost suffix, link shortening service to use etc. Feel free to customize the settings to your need.

Networkedblogs

This a Facebook app. Whenever you publish a new post on your blog, this application easily syndicates the post to your Facebook profileFacebook Page and Twitter. Once you add this application to your Facebook Timeline, all you need to do, is to add your blog's feed and you are good to go.

NetworkedBlogs

How To Use NetworkedBlogs app

To get started with NetworkedBlogs, go tohttp://www.networkedblogs.com/blog

Sign in with your Facebook account and authorize it to have access to your profile etc. Once you get to the application page, click on "Register a Blog".  Enter your blog link in the provided box and follow the instructions.

Once you are through adding your blog, click on the "syndication" link to add your Facebook and Twitter targets. Once done successfully, your blog posts will automatically be appearing on Facebook and Twitter whenever you update your blog.

Kindly, go to my own NetworkedBlogs application page and follow me. If you follow me, so I can follow you back.

Google Launches Gmail Free SMS In Nigeria

Now you can send and receive your Emails via sms without an Internet Connection as Google launches Gmail SMS in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
Google has launched Gmail SMS, a simple service that allows Nigerians, Ghanaians and Kenyans send and receive e-mails as SMS messages using their mobile phone regardless of whether or not their phones are connected to the Internet.
This service will prove to be extremely useful in these three countries given the often spotty state of Internet connectivity in many parts. Gmail SMS works on any phone including basic phones that only support voice and SMS.
The service automatically forwards users e-mails as SMS text messages to their phones. They can respond to the e-mails by responding directly to the SMS.
Receiving Gmail SMS is free of charge. Standard SMS rates apply when replying to messages, creating new messages and sending Gmail SMS commands from your phone.
HOW IT WORKS
“Gmail SMS automatically forwards your emails as SMS text messages to your phone and you can respond by replying directly to the SMS,” says Geva Rechav, Product Manager of Emerging Markets at Google. “You can control the emails received by replying with commands such as MORE, PAUSE and RESUME. Additionally, compose a new email as an SMS and send to any email address recipient – who will find your message in the right email conversation thread.”
So, how do you set yourself up with Gmail SMS?
First of all, you’ll need to log-in to your Gmail account, and click on your profile at the top of the page and then hit Account.
Next, you’ll have to access your settings in the “Phone and SMS” section:
You will then have to link your mobile phone number to your account to be able to send and receive emails from your handset:`
Goodluck. Hit the LIKE Button now!!!
